Hamburg Picture Book Prize 2021 wins the German Youth Literature Prize 2023!

The concept for “Spinne spielt Klavier” was awarded the Hamburg Picture Book Prize in 2021 and was published as a finished book by Carlsen Verlag in 2022.

The Verein Neues Bilderbuch (New Picture Book Association) aims to support picture book artists as they develop and publish contemporary forms of book illustration. The association is privately funded and not for profit.

The International Network for Picture Book Studies, in cooperation with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, promotes dialogue about picture book art. Parents, educational professionals, researchers and illustrators form part of the network and the conversation.

Every two years, the Verein Neues Bilderbuch awards the Hamburger Bilderbuchpreis (Hamburg Picture Book Prize) to as-yet unpublished book ideas. The books are brought to the market in collaboration with dedicated publishing houses.
