The Hamburg Picture Book Prize is awarded every two years by the Neues Bilderbuch association.
The prize recognises contemporary picture book concepts that have not previously been published. The prize money amounts to 12,000 euros. The Neues Bilderbuch association uses this to support book artists who impress with their artistic approach and provide exemplary inspiration for the art of the picture book.
The jury comprises independent picture book experts as well as representatives from our partner organisations: the illustrators’ association IO, the publisher responsible for the book’s publication, and the Kinderbuchhaus at the Altonaer Museum. The jury is chaired by the artistic director of the Neues Bilderbuch association.
The book, which won the 2027 Hamburg Picture Book Prize, is being published by Carlsen Verlag.
